Principal's Message

Dear students, parents, and school community,

As we prepare for the 2022-2023 school year, let me take this opportunity to welcome you back to your school community! The final days of summer are upon us and we hope that you enjoyed time away from school.

Upon reflecting on last school year, I must say that it was one of the most challenging years in public education. We continued to feel the impact of the pandemic and had to re-learn what we knew as in-person teaching and learning. We found ourselves reinventing practices, policies, and programs as our students, teachers, and staff weathered storms that were not present a few years ago.

At CHIPS, we want you to know that your feedback, care, and commitment make a huge difference in your child's daily learning experience. We are very excited to welcome your students back on Monday, August 22nd!

With input from our educational partnerships, this new school year will bring amazing additions to our school. We have added an additional counselor, an assistant principal, and new teaching staff. We have added several new courses and programs which will offer innovative learning experiences for students at CHIPS. Additionally, we are pleased to announce the grand opening of our Wellness Space, in partnership with Our Own, in early fall.

Our school will start the school year with a new weekly bell schedule designed specifically to provide students with designated time during the school day that will lead to higher student learning outcomes - whereas studies show increased academic performance, school attendance, and health for students. This new schedule is in compliance with Senate Bill 328 which requires that high schools begin the school day no earlier than 8:30 a.m.

New programs and staffing changes will allow us to foster opportunities to better meet the needs of our students and school community.

At CHIPS, our motto is futurum reserans: unlocking the future. To that end, we are committed to unlocking a better future with and for our students.

Respectfully,

Saba Araya, Ed. D.
